In our 2nd grade reading unit titled AMERICA: THE EARLY YEARS, we have to create a data chart with the properties of each Native American tribe we study. This activity was done by hand in the past, now my students have the use of Microsoft Access to get the job done within a small group setting. CLICK HERE to view this database. The second project was group based: Darren Fix, Heather Hoffman, Lori Jarvis, Sonja Bertolucci, David Putney and myself have collaborated to present this fine presentation. The focus here was Concept Attainment. Concept Attainment is a learning model built around the studies of thinking conducted by Bruner, Goodnow, and Austin (1967). Our third project was based on Synectics and included the following authors: Sonja Bertolucci, Roger Cramer, Tim Johnson and Mike Troiano. Synectics was first developed for industrial settings, but was soon adapted for classroom use by William Gordon (1961). This process will help students "break set" and look at words in a more creative manner. CLICK HERE to see our very informative lesson!

In ED 251, we had to research a profile for our current school that would reflect some important areas in 'real life' as it applies to educational equality. My report reflects the 2000 and 2001 school year at Marian Anderson Creative Arts Academy in the Sacramento City Unified School District. This next project is a very large scale project titled "RUSH FOR GOLD". This project covered the gold rush and information about the surrounding towns. Lori Jarvis was the main web designer and covered the Placerville area, Kathryn Odell covered the Columbia area, and I covered the Coloma area. CLICK HERE to see our extensive project!
